Dear Conchita, operating in Azerbaijan on behalf Nefes LGBT Alliance we’d appreciate the opportunity to ask you just a few questions.Firstly we are pleased to see you at the Eurovision Song Contest. And the LGBT family of Azerbaijan are looking forward your performance at Denmark. And the LGBT community of Azerbaijan very much look forward to your performance in Denmark. We’ll most definitely be supporting you!
- Azerbaijan is one of the few countries where homophobia arises frequently. Many of the LGBT community are young and easily influenced by the words and actions of others – they can often be put down or discouraged and may begin to lose hope in their beliefs. What words of support would you give to them?
Please, stay strong. keep on living your life the way you do! don’t get insecure, things will change and it’s getting better. fight for your beliefs and for your rights! i will do the very best that i can to support our community!
- What would you say to those who are against homosexuality in Azerbaijan?
Well, in first place, i don’t really care about hate. i’m focusing on good energy and love. but what i can say is, that these people should think about, possible hurting their loved ones. what if there is somebody who is gay, in their own family and nobody knows it. do you really want to hurt your own family? think about that.
- You have already conquered the hearts of all of Europe’s LGBT. Do you think this could aid your chances of winning compared to that of other entrants?
I don’t care about winning in this place. i do what i do because i need to do it, cause i feel it. something in our society has to change and i will do anything i can, to make it better.
